John Anderson at Wordpress... an exodus?

I would like to highly recommend John Anderson's blog. It has recently moved to wordpress and I'm wondering why so many of my fellow bibliobloggers are being led out of the wilderness and into the Wordpress holy land.

Anderson is a very astute Old Testament scholar working heavily in the Jacob cycle of Genesis. His insight and commentary is very valuable in my estimation. He is also a PhD candidate at Baylor (congrats again on passing your comps). My blogroll link to his site is also now current to his new address. Thanks for pointing that out John.

I do not know why there is a mass exodus to wordpress. If someone tells you, let me know.

Two Things:

(1) The mass exodus is due to the vast superiority of Word Press over Blogger. Duh!

(2) While your fixing John's link, Rob, fix mine too! : )

Mike,

you gotta give me more evidence than that. that's just hearsay. what is the evidence? i have been thinking about making the change sometime in the fall.

Rob,
oh, and speaking of links to blogs, since you do go to Brite Divinity school now, would it not be appropos to at least have a friend from BDS linked to your blog? :)

Rod,
Good point! Your blog is now in my list. I don't know of any other Brite student blogs at this point, so feel free to educate me.

Wow, my own post. I'm flattered!

Seriously, Rob, thank you for your kind words. I can only hope I will continue to be an "astute" OT scholar---or better yet, that I will soon be an "astute" OT scholar with a job!

Please do continue to check in. And I have enjoyed reading your posts as well. Hopefully we will run into one another in New Orleans, or at least at SWCRS.

John,
I look forward to meeting you in New Orleans or SWCRS as well. I think you know my friend Mike Whitenton also, which is good. Friends in the academy are always a good thing.

I look forward to hearing/reading some of your work in the future as you publish more. I'm sure you will find a job. But, we are all in that boat, a difficult one with a surplus of PhDs and a limited field of opportunities. However, I anticipate an exodus of older scholars in the near future, supposing our discipline stays alive, we should be okay I think.

Thanks! Earlier this semester in a conversation I had with Carol Newsom (from Emory), she suggested that the economy has had a huge impact on our field. Namely, many who had planned retirement are not because everything is in such poor shape. She projected that once everything is tidied up (and we all know Obama is going to do just that!), there would be a large number of positions coming available. I hope she is right.

Thanks for the note on my writing. Have you had the opportunity to read my article I posted up? If so, please do leave comments in the relevant thread on my blog, even if they are brief. My apologies if you have already done so---it's late and my memory is slipping.

Yes, I 'know' Mike W. It seems there are many bloggers that would be attending SWCRS; that will make things convenient. But even at SBL, given that I am presenting a paper, such meetings may be more likely to occur. Plus, I tend to live in the book display at the meeting, partly to decide very carefully what I want to get (it's a science) and partly for networking/meeting scholars and publishers.

Muslims Believe In JESUS

to know more visit http://islam100.wordpress.com

We are presenting this not to placate you out of policy or diplomacy. We are only articulating what our Creator had commanded us in the Noble Qur’an (Which is translated as follows);

“Say (O Muslim), “We believe in Allah and that which has been sent down to us and that which has been sent down to Abraham (Abraham), Isma’il (Ishmael), Ishaque (Isaac), Ya’qub (Jacob), and to Al-Asbat [the twelve sons of Ya’cub (Jacob)], and that which has been given to Musa (Moses) and ‘Iesa (Jesus), and that which has been given to the Prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and to Him we have submitted (in Islam)”. [Chapter 2: verse 136]

As Muslims we have no choice. We had said in many words:

” WE BELIEVE IN ONE CREATOR, WE BELIEVE IN ALL HIS PROPHETS, WE BELIEVE, THAT JESUS (peace be upon him) WAS ONE OF THE MIGHTIEST PROPHETS OF GOD, THAT HE WAS THE MESSIAH AS WELL AS THE WORD OF GOD, THAT HE WAS BORN MIRACULOUSLY- WITHOUT ANY MALE INTERVENTION (which many modern-day Christians do not believe today) , THAT HE GAVE LIFE TO THE DEAD BY GOD’S PERMISSION, AND THAT HE HEALED THOSE BORN BLIND AND THE LEPERS BY GOD’S PERMISSION.”

Islam respects all religions. Nevertheless, Muslims consider the view of Christendom to be a misguided one. The Noble Qur’an highlights the important aspects of Jesus (Peace Be Upon Him) mother, his birth, his mission and his ascension to heaven.

The God of Prophet Jesus Christ and Allah are not diffrent. Infact currently Arabic and original Aramic bible uses same word Allah for God almighty for the last 2000 years. Aramic was the original language of the Prophet Jesus Christ (peace be upion him). The first thing Islam asserts and the last is that there is no god except Allah. Allah being the primary name of God in Arabic and meaning ‘the god’.

Almighty God (Allah) is unique (wahid) and inherently one (Ahad), all-merciful and omnipotent. All these names refer to Allah, the supreme and all-comprehensive divine name. Among the 99 names of God, the most famous and most frequent of these names are “the Compassionate” (al-Rahman) and “the Merciful” (al-Rahim). , everything in the world is a sign of God we can see only the activities of God and cannot see God.
